WEEK 5: Body mechanics and Blocking step practice

First, according to the tutor, adjust Maya’s settings to the same as the teacher, then I chose a simpler practice, the back somersault of the small ball with only half of body. The first step is to find a suitable reference and draw its key frame in TVP to simulate the correct timing, but I don’t think I’m doing well enough.

The reference:

Drawing poses in TVP:

Then put it in Maya

Among them, the most difficult thing for me is the control of rhythm. When the curve is not smooth, it is easy to grasp my rhythm less accurately. I hope I can improve it in future practice. The second difficulty is the curve of pose. How to get a perfect arc is what I have to consider every time I do pose, but it will also be different from the reference.

Body mechanics:

The first step is still to find a reference. What I found is a reference for carrying heavy objects, which is used as a template for blocking.

On this basis, I made some analysis, marked the key frames I thought, and made the first version of blocking.

But I am not very satisfied with this edition. I think the rhythm and pose still need to be adjusted. I will continue to strive to improve it in the next process.
